2020 won’t ruin our December fun!

December 4, 2020

This year has been an odd one – many people have had to make changes to their everyday life, and things haven’t really been the same since March. But just because some changes have had to be made doesn’t mean that we can’t still have fun in December! We have come up with some suggestions for what to do over the December period despite the restrictions in place!

Keep connected with family

Thankfully, there is more flexibility now with how many people are allowed to mix with over the Christmas period, which is amazing news for those of us who thought they may have had to spend this time alone. Spending time with loved ones is one of the best things about the festive season for many people, so if you can, make sure you are spending time with your loved ones.
If you want to stay inside due to the cold weather, then why not play some family bingo, or some board games such as monopoly? If you are celebrating Christmas this year, then Christmas themed board games are always good fun, especially if there are young children in your family. However, even if there are not any children around, a few board games can be a lot of fun with a few drinks and can make some very funny memories to look back on in later years!

Stay connected remotely!

If it is still unsafe for you to mix with your loved ones over the holiday period, then you can still have fun over services such as Zoom or Skype, which help you stay connected even if you cannot meet up with each other.
You can still play games and do things with your loved ones over video call, so why not do something fun and a little silly, such as host a bake off over video call? Everyone loves a bit of British Bake Off! Or, if you can meet up, you can host it from someone’s house. Regardless of who wins your bake off, you’re guaranteed to end up with some tasty treats (provided you follow the instructions carefully!) and anyone and everyone can get involved. This is a great idea for the little ones too, as they can leave some of their homemade goods out for Santa, or share them out amongst neighbours and other family members.
Keep an eye out for our social media posts this December, as once a week we will be posting one of our own recipes for you to try out over the Christmas break! You could even test these out during your family bake off. We have already shared our fantastic cookie recipe, so let us know if you try it out!

If you have some time alone…

If you find yourself having some time alone, but you still want to keep occupied, then why not look around the neighbourhood or local towns and enjoy some of the colourful decorations that are on display? As we have had more time to ourselves this year, people have had more time to plan their decorations, so they are sure to look spectacular! If it’s okay to do so, take some pictures and maybe use these as inspiration for your own decorations.
If Christmas lights aren’t for you, then why not make a scrapbook? We have had a lot of time to ourselves this year and a number of us have been reflecting on the past, so why not dig up some positive memories and create scrapbooks for your family? These can make very personal and heartfelt gifts, or just a special piece of memorabilia for yourself.

If you or a loved one could use a little extra help over the holiday period, whether that is personal care, assistance with medications, or just a little extra company, then we are here to help. Get in touch with us on 01322686765 or send us an email at and we will do what we can to make your holiday season a little less stressful.
